Sara: The jail cell isn't exactly what you would like to call home, but it is.
The Flaming One
Sara: Its late. I assume you go to sleep. As opposed to trying an impossible escape?

Uh, no, I uh dig out through the cement floor with a spoon.
Matthew Hammer
That would be a yes, I sleep.
The Flaming One
You sleep is troubled. You keep seeing the aftermath of the dig and the ungodly ammount of firepower Dina seemed to be carrying. Your brain is trying to come to terms with it all, and it fails.

In the dream, you are in the crypt with Dina and the strange woman again. Except this time, Dina is dressed all in scarlet, and blood flows freely from her hands. The woman is dressed is the darkest midnight, and exudes an alien menance. YOu are not sure of which is the more frightening sight.

The book is in the center of you three, on a pedistal. YOu all want it. Only one of you will get it.

You can again her Szyminski's words, but they come from the woman this time. "You are not ready. You cannot understand what is going on here. It is my responsibility."

The dream Dina shoots the woman an evil look. You here her muttering about "Imperialistic old world bastards" and other phrases that remind you of what you said to the old man earlier that day.
The Flaming One
Dina then turns to you. As she does, you can see her steping closer to the book. The blood is forming a pool at her feet. "Come Sara. Open the book! That's what you are here for!"
The Flaming One
The woman shoot her gaze at you. "No! It is not for you. It is for me. You cannot possibly understand it!"
The Flaming One
You stand closest to the book. You know you could get to it before the others.

Sara grasps the book, holding it away from both of them, sort of shielding it with her body
Holding it tight, not opening it either.
The Flaming One
Dina, faster than you can see, pulls some sort of heavy artiliery from no where. It drips of blood and ichor. She threatens the other woman, but the gun is pointed strangley at you. "Stay back, you bitch. This is for us, and us alone."
The Flaming One
The other woman, meanwhile, seems to grow a bit more indistinct, but more meanacing. "Very well. If it must be so. Open it then. See what awaits you. But remember....you were warned."

Sara continues to eye both of them.
The Flaming One
The shadow of the girl fades even more, but seems to grow larger at the same time. "The secrets... the darkness. It sings, Sara. It will give you everything you want. It will take it all away. You cannot stop it. It comes for you, even now..."

Sara backs away.
The Flaming One
Dina's entire form is covered in the blood. You are not sure where the blood stops and Dina begins. "Damnit, you frigg' get. I said, shut the 'ell up!" She shakes the gun even more meanacingly, but still right at you. As you move, she fires...

The bullets are hot, and you can see them coming. It is almost slow motion.

Sara pulls away, a clumsy, falling down sort of duck.
The Flaming One
The bullets swim above you, almost legarthic. The shadows all about you seem to be dragging them away, slowing them down. This only makes Dina more irate and the shadowy woman more shadowy. You hit the floor hard, however, harder than you would link. The book scatters from your hand, toward the crimson mass that is Dina.

Sara scrabbles back away from the two.
The Flaming One
With a dark splish and splosh, Dina moves towards the book. Globules of blood fly to and fro as she does. The shadows---all that remain of the other---remain where they all. Soon, Dina and all her sanguine glory are holding the book---a dun brick in the bloody void.

Sara continues to huddle back.
The Flaming One
"Aye. I told 'ye it was fer us!" There is a madness in her voice. It reminds you of how you thought she was breaking down in the vault. She starts coming towards you. her hands on either side of the book. "Are you ready, lassie? Ready to see what is in this accursed thing?"

She weakly shakes her head no.
The Flaming One
Dina is beyond hearing you now. She starts to pry it open. You can see a dark inky posion start to drip of the pages as she does so, but before she can get it open, a dark spot sprouts from the middle of her chest. A bit of shadow... a shadow pike through the heart.
The Flaming One
The bloody mass that is dina just bursts, like a sicky bubble. The book is drowned somewhere in it. But you cannot see it. The light is failing rapidly as the shadows are growing thicker.

A whisper. "...are you sure that you are ready...?"

Sara just huddles.

The whsiper is close, almost personal. "You must. For they are coming. Can't you hear them?"

tighter. Trying not to listen. Trying not to see.

"... open your eyes sara. before it is too late..."

With a start, you come awake.
The Flaming One
It is still night. The cell is cool, and a bit damp. You shiver, but not just from the cold. Something is not right.

It is dark, but there is an eeiry ghost like light. There is a bluish tint on everything. You are certain you are awake, but the light reminds you more of a movie effect than something real.

You have a cold flash ask goosebumps crawl up your skin. There is a oily residue to the air. In the distance, you think you can *feel* screams... perhaps happening now, of recently, or soon. You know something is going wrong here... terribly wrong... and you cannot stop it.

She chants softly, trying to determine what is happening (prime).

The air is a residue of something happening nearby... a reaction to violence and defilement. Just touching the strands makes you ill. YOu have a hard time keeping your lunch.

She gets off the cot and tries to look out in the hall.
The Flaming One
The hall is dark... though the blue fog seems to stream down from the direction of the main complex. You try to hold your breath to hear something... anything. Is it your heartbeat, or was that a scream? Your breath or a loud thud? You're heart races trying to throw your perceptions down that far.

Where was Dina being held? Which way do these feelings come from?

Dina is being held in a more secure location. You are not exactly sure where that is. The feeling is coming from down towards the main offices.

You assume that since that is the main part of the complex, all storage is in that area.

Sara trys to call for a guard, and croaks silently for a minute before finding her voice.

The sound of your voice seems muffled to your ears, as if passing through a thick soup. It echoes harmlessly down the hall. For moment, no one comes.

You then hear it... footsteps. Coming this way. Slowly. Dilberately.

Sara shrinks back.
The Flaming One
Around the corner comes... a man. Or that in the form of a man. Its skin is a pasty whitish-blue, as if it had been kept in water too long. Its clothes hang limply over its emaciated form, and it appears there are strange burn marks over it: arms, chest, several near its shaved scalp. But what bothers you most is the obvious sense of madness in its eyes.

YOu can also get a sense of the unnaturalness of this thing. It is an abomination.

I fear to ask, but does it look like anyone I used to know?

No. This .. thing... looks like no on you have known in this life.

It comes to the door, its twisted smile on its face. It it twirly a set of keys in its hand... the guards keys. With a cool rattle, it starts testing them on your lock.

At the thrid, it looks up to you and grins wider. It doesn't fit.

The fourth key clicks. It turns it slowly. It seems to enjoy this.

The creature does not pay attention. As it beings to push open the door, you hear a voice pierce the silence.

She is going to go ahead and try to destroy it.

It is a woman’s voice. It is Russian.. and older form of it though.

"Ivan! Andre! Come. We have what we need. We cannot keep her waiting."

If it comes any closer, Sara's trying to use the flames of purification. It doesn't look alive.

At the voice. The creature looks at you a moment longer. You can feel it struggling with itself. But what can only be described as a soggy sigh, it drops the key ring and slumps back the way it came.

Sara waits and instant, then heads for the door.

The door is just slightly ajar. There is no sign of the visitor.

Sara takes a deep breath and heads the way it left.

The hallway is empty for several turns. The cells here are mostly empty. Being a small town, it does not have much in the way of crime.

The door to the cells is not there. It is just gone. You have no idea what happened to it.

The residue is everywhere. And very powerful. Something strong and vile was here, and very recently. It cannot be tracked easily in this closed area... you know it was here, but not exactly here. But you believe you could follow it outside of the building. Nothing alive seems to be remaining here anyway.

She rushes out, almost as much to put the death behind her as to search for the thing.

The streets ahead are void of life. A fog--natural this time--clings to the streets. YOu can feel that your visitors came from one of two directions: the path diverges here.

There is a smallish river in the town. One of the path leads that way. The newer one, maybe?

You start walking. As you do so, a car starts coming down the street, toward the station.

The car pulls over. Rolling down the window, you are suprised to see George. "My God, Sara, you're alive!"

George looks a bit sheepish, but still more afraid. "Get in! I'll tell you on our way!"

Sara does. "Our way where?"

George slams his foot on the gas. "Away! I don't know, you tell me. After what happened to that friend of yours, I don't want it to happen to me!"

If he's not heading the way Sara was she shouts "No, go that way!"

he takes a sharp turn, a bit confused. "Where are we going?"

"What friend?"

"That companion of yours. Not the guide. The other one. I forget his name."

"What happened to him" <Is the trail getting any warmer?>

You are getting closer, and you are directing George as he drives. But you are not moving towards the water anymore though. You are not sure where. The road is heading out of the city.

George shivers: "We were staying together, waiting for this whole mess to blow over. I went out to get some food, and when I came back, I saw him talking to some people. He didn't look happy. They didn't look friendly (cont)"

"I didn't want to get between them---after all, after what I have seen recently, I'm starting to get a little over cautious. They were asking him something... about the book you found I think. He must have told them it was witht eh cops. When he did, one of them... God, I don't want to think about it."

Sara closes her eyes, holding back the tears. Then looks up and fiercely tries to concentrate on where they are going.

The path is heading towards a bright something in the distance. A sign in French reads "Airport" as you zip by it.

They are heading for an airport?

She continues to direct.

George is sounding a bit frightened. "Do you have any idea what is going on?"

YOu can see the look in his eyes. He remembers everything. But he doesn't say anything.

Yes. It is getting warmer. You are pulling up to the airport now. Its a small, one airplane sort of deal. One is on the runway now, a few passengers getting on board.

Sara puts her hand on George's arm, "Can you wait for me."

The air is cold, a sudden wind blowing across the strip.
The Flaming One
Geroge: "Sure."

Sara gets out. I assume the trail leads towards the airport.

It leads towards the plane.

This is like a country airport. A few shuttles and mostly personal crafts. There is a very small gate, but nothing fancy.

She heads for the plane. Trying to spot the source of the trail.
The Flaming One
You can see the ... thing ... that accosted you get on the plane. Behind it is a larger, giant of a man. You cannot tell the details to finely at this distance, though. Behind him is a woman. You know one of them is the source of your trail... but the source is too powerful to get distinguish between them at this distance.

Not that you can tell. Might be on the plane. The woman or the other man might be. Again, distance is unclear. It appears the terminal is closed---someone was waiting with this plane.

She trys to look for some identification on the plane.

Last passenger, the woman, sets ready to enter the plane. As she does, she looks right at you. Tall. Dark haired.

The plane has one mark. "Technogenesis Enterprises."
The Flaming One
The woman ignores you and enters. The door is pulled closed from the inside and starts to take down the airstrip.

Sara turns and heads back towards George.
The Flaming One
George looks at you expectantly. He seems relieved that you are alive. "Sara? What happened? What did you see?"
Matthew Hammer
Sara gets in and motions for him to drive. "They left. We need to go back and see if Dina is still alive."
The Flaming One
George is tense, but says nothing during the ride. As you start to get closer, you notice a bustle of activity in the area of the precinct. It seems not all officers were caught at the scene--you can see their flashing lights in the distance through the fog.

I have him pull off the main road before we get there to ask him some questions. "Why did you come to the police station after what happened to <insert name>? What did you expect to find?"
The Flaming One
George: "I don't know. I know that they were going to go to the station." He can't force himself to look at you. "I know this will sound crazy, but, Sara, I think you and Dina are the only ones that understand what happened... what is happening. You two seemed to know what was going on... to act.... I couldn't... do anything...."

"I don't think that the police are going to let either of us do much acting after what happened at the station tonight."

George looks panicked. "No! We can't go there! We have to leave. You must know someplace? Please Sara!"

"The Police are going to be hunting me when they find I'm not there."

Geroge looks puzzled. "The old man? Didn't he leave before..."

George shakes his head. "No, I don't know where he went."

"Okay. before I turn myself in, we have to find what happened to Dina. Can you drop me off somewhere secluded and go to the station to find out what happened to her?"

George drops you off several blocks away. He doesn't look happy with your request, but he leaves. The waiting is uncomfortable. After some time, he returns. "I think she is still in there. I heard someone yelling in that damn brouge of hers."

"What are the police doing?
The Flaming One
"Scrambling. Trying to figure out what the hell happened. Looking about for escaped prisoners... I heard you mentioned once."

<under her breath> "Damn not having enough information"
We need to find Szyminski. Are there any hotels around here?

George: "There is the one I am staying at. Don't know of any others."

"We can at least try it."

You get to the hotel. Looking a the registry, you do see Mr. Szyminski's name on it. Unfortunately for you, he also checked out recently (it appear he had this room reserved all during his stay here).
