Three Pillars: Second Chance

Session 2

Penny Gronbeck

ugh. getting drugs.

Matthew Hammer

Hi

Dina O'Shire

hey everybody- gotta finish about 10 more mins of work- sorry!!!

The Flaming One

Well wait for everyone to return from their various sojouns.

The Flaming One

*sojourns*

The Flaming One

I'm having a bad typing day.

Jamey Minnis

Hey, everybody!

Penny Gronbeck

okay, I'm back and I'm all doped up.

The Flaming One

So now we wait for "Dina".

The Flaming One

Meanwhile, we can discuss something about the Damon/Ivy part of the story.

Penny Gronbeck

there's a lot of gender crossing in this game.... it's kind of interesting.

The Flaming One

;)

Matthew Hammer

Just me and Teddy

The Flaming One

That part of the story isn't quite as well developed for tonight as the others, unfortunately.

The Flaming One

Hey, I play all genders... even the middle ones.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

What about the story? Oh, BTW... I might have slower response time on account of my mouse sucks.

Penny Gronbeck

and I'm playing a heterosexual.... that kind of counts.

The Flaming One

Well, I'm just warning you that your section may be off. The other option is to focus on the other two for now, and come back more next session.

Dina O'Shire

sorry! almost done

Jamey Minnis

Teddy is a hoor!

Dina O'Shire

justin knows what i'm doing... and may i say- democracy sucks!

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Our section may be off? That blows!

Dina O'Shire

and yeah- jamey heard me bitch- tell 'em the story buddy, i'll be right back...

The Flaming One

Or, option #3, you all can get drunk enough so you don't notice! Not that I would suggest such a thing.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

No, capitalism sucks... that's why you're doing what you're doing.

The Flaming One

Still quoting from that History class we took, Justin?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I do have beer...

Matthew Hammer

I like option 3

Jamey Minnis

Teddy did all sorts of work only to be told that he was completely wrong...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

It's true, though. Get the story from him later.

Jamey Minnis

I went with the beer option - shot some pool, had some beer.

Matthew Hammer

why does democracy suck (not that I'm disagreeing)

Jamey Minnis

I only had one beer an hour ago, though...

The Flaming One

Capitalism. Not democracy.

The Flaming One

Though that probably has problems too.

Matthew Hammer

uh, okay

Penny Gronbeck

all I have is rum, and I'm already on ephedrine, so I'd be an even cheaper date than normal.

Jamey Minnis

no, democracy - his opinion got outvoted.

The Flaming One

La de da.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Yup... by me! Not democracy, despotism, baby!

The Flaming One

Well, while we're waiting, I'll get a drink of my own...

Dina O'Shire

okay- i'm here... my apologiess... thanx for waiting...

Jamey Minnis

Go TJ!

Jamey Minnis

what are you drinking?

The Flaming One

Its a tonic of suger and water. I think it might have other things too.

Dina O'Shire

mmmmmm... teddy wants beer

Penny Gronbeck

now there's a surprise.

Dina O'Shire

beer good

The Flaming One

Okay, we all here? Any questions/comments/etc before we begin?

Dina O'Shire

nope

Penny Gronbeck

none.

Jamey Minnis

let's rock and roll!

Matthew Hammer

no

The Flaming One

All righty then...

The Flaming One

We'll start with Wolfie.

Jamey Minnis

me!

Jamey Minnis

me!

The Flaming One

Jamey, you have just concluded your communion with the spirit. What are you doing next?

Jamey Minnis

I'm gping to follow where the crystal medallion leads me - I can find something to eat on the road.

The Flaming One

As you leave the center of the caern, you recall that it might be a good idea to take a few along with you. More eyes are always useful.

Jamey Minnis

Well, then. I was figuring traveling alone, but if others will join me...

Jamey Minnis

I head over toward where the others are hanging about...

The Flaming One

Well, there happen to be a small group over there. They don't seem to do anything important. Perhaps you can show them a thing or too...

Jamey Minnis

What sort are they?

The Flaming One

[Hey, I'm going to need a few volunteers for Mr. Wolfie's companions.... 3 wolfies and 1 kin-folk]

Jamey Minnis

youngsters hanging about?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I'm there.

Dina O'Shire

ii can help

Matthew Hammer

sure, why not

Justin Robinson-Prickett

What are our breeds/auspices/tribes?

Penny Gronbeck

sure.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Actually I want to be the Kinfilk

The Flaming One

Well, pretty much. There is the visiting Black Fury, a Wendigo and another Uktena. They are gabbing with one of the Uktena kin-folk, a store-owner at the nearby town.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Kinfolk that is.

The Flaming One

Well, Justin's Kin. Who wants the leftovers?

Jamey Minnis

Excellent.

Penny Gronbeck

I'll take the fury. surprise.

Dina O'Shire

wendigo!

Jamey Minnis

I approach the group that is lounging about chatting.

The Flaming One

Matt, that means your the Uktena.

Matthew Hammer

guess I get the Uktena

Justin Robinson-Prickett

And so I was thinkin... I could just go Crinos and rip the white-eye a new one...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Then I remembered I'm not Garou.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Life sucks...

Dina O'Shire

eh, that's the way life is, eh?

Penny Gronbeck

no kidding.

Dina O'Shire

<i'm canadian>

Penny Gronbeck

<shall I call you Logan?>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Like you get to complain! Man, I'm gonna open a casino and take all their money. That'll show them.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Stupid fucking white men.

Matthew Hammer

[private to The Flaming One] What's a Uktena?

Dina O'Shire

you can't show 'em a thing, eh, they're dumb sometimes, but their like children, eh

Penny Gronbeck

yeah, until they start hunting you down with torches.

Jamey Minnis

An Uktena walks up to you, dressed as a shaman of the tribe.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

They say that things that are alike in nature grow to look alike...

Dina O'Shire

oh, eh- that's why i just stick to the wilds, you know?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

And it looks like this guy just dropped off a time machine.

The Flaming One

[private]Native American wolfies. They guard the mystic secrets. Your a member of the caern, recently Changed. Your old life, you pretty much was a drifter. Now they have taken you in and given you a purpos.

Jamey Minnis

Young ones, a taint grows in this caern.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh, great, Garou busines...

Dina O'Shire

eh? white-man taint?

Jamey Minnis

The elder has asked me to destroy the source of this taint.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I'll just go hang out until one of you wants to breed.

Matthew Hammer

What is that?

Penny Gronbeck

did he say it was our fault.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

All I'm good for anyway.

Jamey Minnis

Why do you not accompany me in finding the source?

Penny Gronbeck

some of you are good for raising the kids, too.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I lost Jamey and Teddy.

Penny Gronbeck

yeah, ditto.

Matthew Hammer

me too

Matthew Hammer

d'oh

The Flaming One

I still have them...

Penny Gronbeck

what's up with that?

The Flaming One

Nope, lost Dina...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh, goody, techical difficulties.

The Flaming One

:)

Matthew Hammer

so you still have jamey?

The Flaming One

Well, my machine just let me know I don't have Jamey...

The Flaming One

Dina?

The Flaming One

Jamey?

The Flaming One

Anyone? ;)

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Toto?

Penny Gronbeck

where's Renee? Where's Frenchy?

Dina O'Shire

chat went down for me for a bit

Matthew Hammer

I hear cannons...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Ooh... Forbidden Zone.

Dina O'Shire

<what'd i miss?>

Penny Gronbeck

yeah, I actually saw it once... fucked up.

The Flaming One

Nope.

Matthew Hammer

us wondering where you went

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I still haven't. I've got the soundtrack

Dina O'Shire

just me, huh?

Penny Gronbeck

it's 3 hours of really random stuff.

Dina O'Shire

sorry, eh- must've doozed off there for a bit

The Flaming One

Well, I had to remove Jamey, though he wasn't connected. Hopefully, he'll retry...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Hmm.

Penny Gronbeck

funny that they both went at the same time.

Dina O'Shire

'had to remove jamey'!?! <shock and horror> what'd he do!?!

Penny Gronbeck

he went off the same time as you.

Dina O'Shire

must be a 626 thing

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh, re: Damon bringing Ivy flowers -

The Flaming One

It was evil. I had to do it...

The Flaming One

Okay, Jamey's back.

Dina O'Shire

<fear the gm- he is wrathful>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

If they wilt and die, he ends up just bringing Ivy's mom potpourri

Matthew Hammer

heyhey

Penny Gronbeck

okay.

Dina O'Shire

yah! jamey!

Jamey Minnis

right-o

Justin Robinson-Prickett

That's comedy...

Jamey Minnis

that was fun.

Penny Gronbeck

or dried flowers.

Jamey Minnis

where ever did I leave off?

The Flaming One

Okay, where were we?

The Flaming One

I think you were trying to convince the youngsters to help you.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I was bitching about not being Garou...

The Flaming One

Action!

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I'

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I'll call my Casino "George's" or something...

Penny Gronbeck

hey, at least you don't have to deal with the whole shaving question.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Shaving?

Dina O'Shire

eh, so who are you shaman... uh, man?

Penny Gronbeck

do you know how much I have to shave so the other Furies don't think I'm a lesbian?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I got sideburns and everything.

Jamey Minnis

The Elder would like the taint removed from the area. I think that it would be good for you to join me.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I'd like to find out... maybe make some Garou?

Dina O'Shire

so, uh, what's tainting up the place eh?

Penny Gronbeck

sure.

Jamey Minnis

That is an interesting question.

Penny Gronbeck

after this taint thing, you and me?

Dina O'Shire

<aside to the fury> i think he likes you, eh

Jamey Minnis

The guardian spirit is guiding me to the source of the taint.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Well let's go, little missy. After! I was thinking now.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Won't take long.

Matthew Hammer

So, which way is it guiding?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Um... forget I said that last part.

Jamey Minnis

That way. (I point)

Penny Gronbeck

<to the wendigo> yeah, not bad.

Dina O'Shire

hey you two- we gotta save the wyld, eh

Penny Gronbeck

sure, no problem.

Jamey Minnis

I must agree with the Wendigo on priorities.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I was planning on it... one child at a time. That's all I'm good for...

Penny Gronbeck

we'll see about that.

Dina O'Shire

yeah- see, eh- you all think i'm stupid cause i uh talk slow, but i know what's uh what eh

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh, hang on... I'll get old Blue.

Jamey Minnis

old Blue?

Penny Gronbeck

<shrugs>

The Flaming One

The kin brings up an old beater.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The disgruntled Indian disappears in the back, and returns with a shotgun and a frightened looking hound.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

And a beater.

The Flaming One

;)

The Flaming One

Someone has to drive.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The hound looks at you all and hides behind the shopkeeper.

Jamey Minnis

drive?

Dina O'Shire

oh- that 'old blue' i thought it was that uh glow in the dark uh, yeah- eh

Matthew Hammer

<grins wide at hound>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

So, anyway, you... who are you (to the shaman)

Jamey Minnis

<looks at you like you should know>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The hound cries and shinks behind the shopkeeper.

Jamey Minnis

I am Runs with Spirits, Theurge of the Uktena tribe.

Penny Gronbeck

do you spill much?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Hey, nice to meetcha. George Armstrong Riel.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

No making fun of the name, now.

Jamey Minnis

<shakes your hand>

Jamey Minnis

Spill?

Dina O'Shire

i meeta nastty corn spirit that did that too... you can call me logan, eh

Penny Gronbeck

sorry. I'm Demeter.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I could change it to Pine Cone Butt Wiper or something, but I ain't Garou. Dammit. Gaia must hate me.

Penny Gronbeck

spirits... you know, alcohol.

Jamey Minnis

Gaia loves all of her children.

Jamey Minnis

You must have a special role that you are destined for.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Easy for you to say, Mr. Shapeshifter.

Dina O'Shire

<to the shaman & other uktena> i think gaia does hate 'em, eh

Jamey Minnis

<shakes his head>

Jamey Minnis

Then, if you will follow me.

The Flaming One

The wind is getting colder.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

A special role... I was trying to fulfill it (glances at the Fury), we gotta fight evil.

Jamey Minnis

<changes into Lupus and heads into the trees>

Dina O'Shire

eh- lemme change <smiles at kinfolk>

Dina O'Shire

<goes lupus>

Dina O'Shire

<follows into trees>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

It's 106 miles to Augusta, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh, never mind.

Penny Gronbeck

<smiles at George, shifts to lupus, follows>

Matthew Hammer

<goes lupus, snorts at the hound, and follows.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The hound yelps and hides under some boxes.

The Flaming One

Well, George. Looks like you've been left behind...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

(to the hound) That bad Garou who did that is gone... he can't hurt you again... he's just a little nearsighted...

Penny Gronbeck

I go back for George.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George figures this is normal, and bitterly goes back to work.

Penny Gronbeck

You coming?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Hating life.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Gaia... I got your Gaia right here.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Yeah... I'll come

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Do I have to run?

Penny Gronbeck

<smiles> don't be a wuss.

Jamey Minnis

<I stand at the edge of the woods, waiting, with my tongue lolling out the side of my mouth>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Well, missy... I can't ignore that.

The Flaming One

You can take your beater jeep. Thats how you got here in the first place.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George closes up his shop, grabs the shotgun and hops in the jeep.

Penny Gronbeck

I drive with him.

Penny Gronbeck

but in lupus, so I can hang my head out the window.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

With a small grin, George guns the engine and drives into the woods.

Jamey Minnis

<lopes off into the woods when everyone is following.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George finds this strangely sexy.

Jamey Minnis

OOC: George is a freak!

The Flaming One

The trail is faint as it leaves the caern, but there is a slight tug on the amulet. Its seems to go in the direction of the nearest town, Eagle Lake.

Penny Gronbeck

(watch out, or I'll lick your face!)

The Flaming One

Its a small community in the far north of Maine.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Heh... that only appeals on a marginal level...

The Flaming One

Not a community known for anything. It just continues. Somehow.

The Flaming One

Jamey?

Jamey Minnis

<heads off toward Eagle Lake>

Dina O'Shire

eh- seems like we're headed to eagle lake, eh- why we going there?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Dunno. Eagle Lake sucks.

Matthew Hammer

Hmmm, taint, city, go figure

Justin Robinson-Prickett

No worse than the rest of Maine. I want to move to that Baywatch beach.

Dina O'Shire

<gm: how long has eagle lake been there?>

Jamey Minnis

a while.

The Flaming One

Eagle lake was established in the early 1800s. Its small, and pretty far away from anything. But tourists come to vist the lake.

Penny Gronbeck

tourists go to everything in Maine.

The Flaming One

Thats about the only thing that makes the town bigger than it is. Tourism. And its summer, so the season is in full swing.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Tourists... I could put up a casino... get some real tourism.

Dina O'Shire

eh- nice lake for ice swimming

Jamey Minnis

Only in the winter...

Penny Gronbeck

yeah, no ice in summer.

Jamey Minnis

wouldn't you rather just have a nice deer, instead?

Dina O'Shire

uh, i'm not uh stupid, eh

Jamey Minnis

sorry, you said swimming, not fishing.

Jamey Minnis

OOC: jamey was up late and didn't sleep well...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh here they go... mockin' me. Can't become a wolf, George? Can't kill Fomori, George? Come here and knock me up! Okay, so that last part is nice.

Jamey Minnis

The taint seems to be coming from the town.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I just wish they'd care about my feelings.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Sometimes I just want to be held.

Dina O'Shire

eh- the town... they prolly think i'm uh stupid too eh

The Flaming One

Actually, Eagle Lake gets a lot of Canadians too, as it is so close to the border.

Jamey Minnis

Or near the town...

Dina O'Shire

eh- now i think it- they might be alright... ooooooooooooh canada <begins to howl the canadian anthem>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

How lovely are your branches...

Jamey Minnis

<raises an eyebrow and then keeps jogging along...>

Dina O'Shire

eh, once you go maple leaf you don't ever... um... what rhymes with maple leaf, eh?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Slows the jeep to follow the shaman...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Omar Sharif.

Penny Gronbeck

sheaf.

The Flaming One

As you get closer to the town, you decide that it would be a good idea to change back...

Jamey Minnis

Omar Sharif?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Staple Beef.

Penny Gronbeck

theif, greif

Jamey Minnis

<shifts reluctantly back to Homid...>

Jamey Minnis

That was a nice little run.

Penny Gronbeck

<shifts back also>

Dina O'Shire

that's it eh- once you go maple leaf, you never need to find another sheaf... uh for your weiner, eh

Justin Robinson-Prickett

There they go...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Mockin' me.

The Flaming One

George: You occasionally get some business from people in the town, but do not know any of them very well. However, you probably have a better feel for it then the rest of the dogs.

Matthew Hammer

<stretches, cracking his back>

Dina O'Shire

<looks around, changes homid quickly>

Penny Gronbeck

Get over it, George.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Sure, let's check stuff out...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Easy for you to say!

Penny Gronbeck

I get out of the jeep.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I'll check things out. I know some of these people. Stupid fucking white men.

Penny Gronbeck

Easy for you, too! Being garou isn't all a picnic.

Dina O'Shire

yeah- eh, we have a sacred uh duty and stuff

Justin Robinson-Prickett

With that, the jeep roars off into town, the Fury's voice drowned out by the engine.

Jamey Minnis

Lovely.

Jamey Minnis

It almost seems to be coming from everywhere here.

Dina O'Shire

eh, maybe some of the prey 'round here 'll know, you know eh?

Jamey Minnis

Maybe.

The Flaming One

Will you go into town, or wait for George to come back?

Dina O'Shire

and eh- can't you talk to spirits? why not ask them whats up eh

Jamey Minnis

Quiet, young one.

Jamey Minnis

I am listening to the spirits.

Dina O'Shire

<aside to fury & uktena> eh, i thought he was just talking to himself, eh

Penny Gronbeck

<rolls eyes> I hate being called a young one.

Dina O'Shire

better than 'old one' eh?

Penny Gronbeck

true...

Matthew Hammer

<aside> maybe he's getting senile and lost his train of thought ...

Penny Gronbeck

life is a blessing, but to live that long might be a curse.

Dina O'Shire

eh- he's your tribe... see, i'm not uh dumb, eh

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The jeep rolls through the town, Johnny Cash blaring from the stereo, and a high reedy voice sings along...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Dirty old egg-suckin' dawg..."

Dina O'Shire

<howls along inspite of himself and his homid form>

Dina O'Shire

i know that one eh!

The Flaming One

The Theurge gathers himself, and sit, cross-legged, on the side of the road.

Penny Gronbeck

I gotta meet better kinfolk....

Jamey Minnis

There are few spirits around here, because of the taint.

Dina O'Shire

eh- in the woods you gotta deal with what you got eh

Penny Gronbeck

my mother, she's always saying, Demeter, I didn't name you after a fertility goddess for nothing

Dina O'Shire

gotta save the dying breed eh? so what's been dying around here eh? does smell funny

Penny Gronbeck

let your sister the lesbian fight the wyrm, you find some nice kinfolk and get to work on that repopulation thing

The Flaming One

In the distance, the wind is stirring. Runs with Spirits mutters silently under his breath; the sound is slightly disturbing. You may have seen Theurges before, but this one is... different. Darker.

Dina O'Shire

<aside to others> this one's stranger than george, eh

Penny Gronbeck

yeah, this one's weird, george just has a chip on his shoulder.

Matthew Hammer

<aside> and he was the one talking about taint ...

Jamey Minnis

After muttering for a while...

Dina O'Shire

<looks at george's shoulder... looks confused>

Dina O'Shire

eh shaman uh what's up eh?

The Flaming One

A very faint blue nimbus surrounds him. This is not normal either. Very osftly, you can hear soft whispers, motion. Perhaps the spirits are coming.

Penny Gronbeck

I smell him.

Matthew Hammer

I hunker down and watch warily

The Flaming One

This one is not of the wyrm. But, there is something strange about him. Stranger than you usual Uktena.

Dina O'Shire

<continues to look at george's shoulder, scratching his head>

Penny Gronbeck

<nudges Logan> it's a metaphor.

Dina O'Shire

<yelps- looks surprised> oh- yeah, eh- one of those

Dina O'Shire

<silently to self- i thought it was made outta potatoes>

Dina O'Shire

so runs, eh what's up with the metaphor?

The Flaming One

Run's with Spirits arms lift, and seem to gesture. Eyes without sight turn to the lake. You feel something distant coming.

Dina O'Shire

uh anybody else feel something distant uh coming, eh?

Penny Gronbeck

shh.

Matthew Hammer

shh

The Flaming One

In a moment, a minor lake spirit appears before the Theurge. The rest of you cannot see it, but you can see the shaman focus on a spot where there is nothing.

Dina O'Shire

<to george> shh

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George ain't there. He left y'all by the side of the road, remember?

The Flaming One

The spirit is the color of night's water. It regards you silently, Spirit.

The Flaming One

*Spirits*, I mean.

Jamey Minnis

<in spirit...> Greeting spirit of the water. We come to find the taint within this place of the weaver.

The Flaming One

The spirit is still. However, you have the feeling that is suggests that those places are always tainted, and your request is not specific enough.

Jamey Minnis

There is something here which brings taint to the Caern to the (insert correct direction here).

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George returns shortly

Jamey Minnis

We have come to cleanse the taint and bring peace to the wilderness.

The Flaming One

As the jeep drives up, it passes through the water spirit. It desperses, but in a moment reforms. However, it doesn't look pleased.

Jamey Minnis

<glowers at George>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George gets out. "Nope ain't found a thing."

Jamey Minnis

Did you have to disturb the spirit?

The Flaming One

George, you find the "leader" sitting on the ground looking drugged out, and the rest just sitting around.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Noticing Runs... "What?"

Penny Gronbeck

shh

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Hey everybody.... huh?

Dina O'Shire

i thought i told you to 'shh' eh?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Okay, sheesh... I'll be over here... waiting to breed.

Jamey Minnis

I offer the spirit a gift of smoked salmon that I have with me...

The Flaming One

The spirit settles. It ripples, and in a moment, it appears a watery reflection can be seen.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George goes and sits down with an air of resigned bitterness.

Penny Gronbeck

<quietly, to myself: I should just breed with lupus...>

Jamey Minnis

My apologies for the rude behavior of that one.

The Flaming One

In the reflection, you see an abandoned metal structure, one of those used by the people of this place for work. It appears to have been an old plant of some kind, but of what you cannot say.

The Flaming One

It has a dark halo in the reflection, and even though emtpy, you can feel pain coming from the building.

Jamey Minnis

This place is where me must go.

The Flaming One

After a moment, the reflection ceases. As the ripples smooth themselves, the spirit fades.

Jamey Minnis

George, are there many abandoned buildings around here?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh, yeah... tons. You got one in mind?

Dina O'Shire

<to shaman> shh

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Um... Chief? Got one in mind?

Jamey Minnis

raises an eyebrow.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

A specific building? Or do you want to go to all of them?

Jamey Minnis

I describe the building as well as I can.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Oh, yeah, I know where that is. Hop in.

Jamey Minnis

sigh.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George gets in the jeep, stifling a small smile.

Dina O'Shire

eh yeah- let's get that building eh!

Jamey Minnis

climbs into the car, looking incredibly uncomfortable.

Penny Gronbeck

gets in.

Matthew Hammer

gets into the back'

Justin Robinson-Prickett

C'mon, it won't bite, Chief! You bite much harder.

Dina O'Shire

<gets in quickly!>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The jeep roars off, Johnny Cash blaring.

Dina O'Shire

<howling>

Jamey Minnis

Must you play such racaus sounds?

Penny Gronbeck

<under my breath: mishegas.>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Sorry, Chief, it's the way of the Homids! We gotta blend in!

Dina O'Shire

'ring of fire' 'ring of fire'

Penny Gronbeck

I like the Social Distortion version better.

The Flaming One

You pass through town. It has a small town feel to it, but one that has been twisted and exploited by the tourism "industry." The houses and building's close to the road are well maintined, but the ones farther out have been ignored. It is an empty shell.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Ain't heard of them...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George goes to the building, adjusting the mirror to look down Demeter's blouse/shirt.

Dina O'Shire

<to george> watch out, eh- she's got sd!

Jamey Minnis

<shakes his head>

Penny Gronbeck

maybe my sister's got the right idea...

Jamey Minnis

to george: Do you ever think of anything else?

The Flaming One

The part of town the old factory is in was been empty for a long time. It looks to have been developed around the turn of the century; mostly wood and coal burning factories of various types. Now, they are all empty and lifeless. It is colder hear than in the main part, perhaps because it is closer to the lake.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

What's up, Chief?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Here we go, Mr. with Spirits.

Jamey Minnis

Runs With Spirits looks around, not quite seeming to see the real world...

The Flaming One

The amulet grows warmer as you approach your destination. There is almost a palpable feeling of foulness.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

George hops out and gets his shotgun, taking two handfulls of shells from the glove box.

Dina O'Shire

eh- see- it's pretty cold here- meebe we can ice swim, eh

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I guess maybe I get to die as a Garou. That might be nice.

Penny Gronbeck

better than mating?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

My brother - Eats the Heart of the Wyrm died of pneumonia.

The Flaming One

George pulls up in front of a final factory. Like the others, it is surrounded by fences to keep everyone out. As with the other, there are plenty of holes through it.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Nothing's better than mating, missy. Love to show you.

Penny Gronbeck

later.

Dina O'Shire

i got those ghost town blues, eh- this's creepy...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Poor Eats. Kept asking me to shoot him...

Jamey Minnis

I glance around - is this place really deserted, or will people see if we get a touch... visible.

The Flaming One

[Will are heroes find out what is in the factory? Find out, next time.]

Jamey Minnis

TJ is mean!

Dina O'Shire

ack!

The Flaming One

[Meanwhile, in Southern France...]

Dina O'Shire

wo-hoo

The Flaming One

Its called Drama. ;)

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Meanwhile, at the Chinese Laundromat.

Penny Gronbeck

sure, call it anything you want.

The Flaming One

Laundromat? I don't think so...

Matthew Hammer

"Oh pardon me, I couldn't help but see, that you only have a small amount of laundry ..."

The Flaming One

BTW: I gots to do something. I'll be right back...

Dina O'Shire

yeah- dina's got a rote that covers that!

Dina O'Shire

cool- i'm gonna go make coffee- brb too

Penny Gronbeck

laundry?

Jamey Minnis

BRB, too...

Jamey Minnis

Wait, teddy making coffee?

Jamey Minnis

never...

Dina O'Shire

yup- can't blow cover by taking bloodstained clothes into the laundry mat!

Dina O'Shire

must have coffee now

Penny Gronbeck

the idea of Teddy cooking anything scares the hell out of me.

The Flaming One

Mmmm... fire! FIRE!

The Flaming One

Well, while Teddy's gone...

The Flaming One

Penny, be the nun again? Jamey, the porter? And justin, I'll probably need several "floaters." Fine w/ that?

Dina O'Shire

i'm back!

Penny Gronbeck

fine.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Floaters? Okay.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Penny? Ask him...

Jamey Minnis

excellent, smithers...

The Flaming One

And Teddy and Matt, why don't you play each other?

The Flaming One

;)

The Flaming One

Okay, back to the show.

Dina O'Shire

aye!

The Flaming One

Sara!

Matthew Hammer

(So, that's teddy, right?)

Matthew Hammer

:)

The Flaming One

It has been a busy week since the discovery underneath the turnip patch. Your life has gotten very busy since then.

Dina O'Shire

heh!

Matthew Hammer

what have we been doing?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Killing my turnips...

Jamey Minnis

I'm being paid well, right?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Killing my turnips!

Matthew Hammer

other than killing turnips

Penny Gronbeck

notifying rome.

Jamey Minnis

eating turnips?

The Flaming One

The memory of the nun's curse when you revealed the...thing, the strangely wrapped book you found. The news got out. Now there is a large "dig" going on. Luckily, you have insinuated yourself in it, so you can continue to find our what is going on.

The Flaming One

The turnip field and the road are all being dug up. The farmer is furious; you hear is wife is sharpening her knives...

Matthew Hammer

<haha>

Matthew Hammer

So, can we get a look at that book?

Jamey Minnis

umm, madamoiselle, perhaps you should buy the farm from the poor farmer?

The Flaming One

As you discovered the dig, the group of archeologists that showed up are allowing you to stay. You only know the leader, a Dr. Kittemer well, and his assistance, a red-headed scientist to look at "the body".

The Flaming One

The book. Well, the book is problematic. You have been trying to translate it, but there is something amiss. The text has been--protected. Its a cypher. But not one you have been able to figure you through mundane means yet.

The Flaming One

Dina.

Dina O'Shire

aye?

The Flaming One

You have attached yourself to a group of blokes from some American University, planning on digging up this mess. Using your assumed identity, you are here to perform an "autopsy" on the thing they fould. You plan to talk to Ms. Sara (whatever her last name it) about it.

The Flaming One

Okay, go!

Dina O'Shire

aye, so then i shall

Matthew Hammer

I'm working on the book in the monastery

Dina O'Shire

ey? aanyun 'ere know where for tha' sara went?

The Flaming One

It is very old. You doubt very much that the, the "thing" wrote it, but someone must have. And why was it burried with "it?"

The Flaming One

Dina. YOu find the battle-ax, I mean nun, who runs the monastery. I'm sure she'll be helpful.

Dina O'Shire

<gm: where is the body now?>

Matthew Hammer

<sure she will ...>

Dina O'Shire

ey, you! yeah, y- oh, mother- be forgiven' me, aye?

The Flaming One

It is under lock, key, and freezer in a place set up in the center of the old turnip field. The have had to put up a thug to keep the farmer away.

Penny Gronbeck

yes?

Dina O'Shire

'av ye seen where the little girlie went that were to be finding this place?

Penny Gronbeck

the... academic?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The farmer stands thirty feet away and hurls continuous nonstop abuse at the thug without pausing, blinking or repeating himself.

Dina O'Shire

aye! thass theun... where she be?

Penny Gronbeck

follow me.

Dina O'Shire

thank'ee <dina follows>

The Flaming One

[private]You suspect that text may have been protected through arcane means. It has the feeling of some tricks you heard of from the old days.

Penny Gronbeck

<the nun takes Dina to Sara.>

Dina O'Shire

ey there miss... uh, miss?

The Flaming One

You follow the nun through several corridors. In the last, you see a woman bent over a book. A French porter and an American lounge nearby.

Matthew Hammer

(distractedly) Come in

Dina O'Shire

aye... <walks in slowly> watcha pourin' so over?

Matthew Hammer

[private to The Flaming One] Is it possible to examine this (i.e. is it magickal protections)?

Matthew Hammer

(In the same absent tone) An ancient manuscript we found with the body outside ...

The Flaming One

[private]You can. And it is, But I would like some in-game description of the examination, for me, anyway. :)

Dina O'Shire

whass i' say?

Matthew Hammer

(reaches a stopping point) um, hello? have we met?

Dina O'Shire

aye- i'm wit' the university... 'ere to autopsy the body ye found..

The Flaming One

The American looks up for a moment, and then returns to playing cards with the Frenchman.

Matthew Hammer

Oh. (stands up and offers her hand) I'm Sara Brin.

Dina O'Shire

nice to meet ye, miss brin- i'm dina!

Dina O'Shire

<shakes her hand>

Matthew Hammer

LIkewise. Which university are you with?

Dina O'Shire

the 'un thass out there! ye silly academia! <walks over to book, peers down at it> so whass all tha' babble for?

Dina O'Shire

<absent mindedly fishes around in her pocket, takes out a bit of twine>

Matthew Hammer

I'm not actually sure. It seems to be in some sort of code. I wish I had something more to work with than pencil and paper.

Matthew Hammer

When are you conducting the autopsy?

Dina O'Shire

aye- well, thass wha' came to ye for too- be needin' some supplies to look o'er the body

Jamey Minnis

the porter sighs...

Penny Gronbeck

the nun looks disapproving.

Jamey Minnis

I suppose you'll be wanting me to deal with supplies for you, madamoiselle?

Matthew Hammer

(puzzled) Supplies? What do you need from me?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Faintly, you can hear the foulest curses imaginable.

Penny Gronbeck

the nun crosses herself.

Dina O'Shire

well, that angry bloke ou'side said to chant wit' ye 'bout funding this gig

Dina O'Shire

yer porter can do it?

Jamey Minnis

if madamoiselle will provide the funding, I am fully capable of dealing with the details for her.

Matthew Hammer

Well, you should probably talk to Dr. Kittemer about that. Come on, I'll help you find him. I need to talk to him too.

Dina O'Shire

wha!?! ye mean i've got ta pay fer this meself!?!

Jamey Minnis

The porter follows...

Jamey Minnis

Madamoiselle, please calm yourself.

Dina O'Shire

<mutters to herself... something like '...if only ... could seee.. light of truth...'>

Jamey Minnis

the porter massages Dina's shoulders.

Jamey Minnis

I'm sure that everything will be dealt with.

Penny Gronbeck

the nun looks REALLY disapproving.

Dina O'Shire

'ey there! <she shrugs away>

Jamey Minnis

sorry, madamoiselle.

Penny Gronbeck

much less disapproving.

Dina O'Shire

say, miss brin! call off yer lackey!

Matthew Hammer

[private to The Flaming One] Am I just braindead, or does everybody living in their own world. I figure either or both are possible

Dina O'Shire

miss brin!

The Flaming One

[private]Yes. Both of them. SOrry you're tired...

Matthew Hammer

Please, leave Dina alone.

Jamey Minnis

The porter slips away, following Sara.

Jamey Minnis

oui, madamoiselle.

Matthew Hammer

Come along, lets go talk to the good doctor

Matthew Hammer

<leaves the room shaking her head>

The Flaming One

You head towards the encampment. As you exit the monastery, there is a gaggle of reporters and cameras blaring down on you. One of the reporters is very intrusive.

Dina O'Shire

aye- thass better... now, i'd be liken' for to be taking a peep at that book o' yours... mebbe it 'as some medical text 'bout the body out there, ye know?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Daniel Cohen, Fortean Times! What's going on!?!

Matthew Hammer

[private to The Flaming One] Yeah, but I'm not the only one. I feel maliciously better. My misery loves company

Dina O'Shire

<dina ducks away>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Miss Brin! A comment!

Jamey Minnis

The porter steps between the reporter and Sara.

Jamey Minnis

Non, monsieur.

Jamey Minnis

Madamoiselle is very busy.

Penny Gronbeck

<in french> get out of here, this is no place for your voyeurism.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Call off your thugs, Brin! The public has the right to know!

Jamey Minnis

thug?

Jamey Minnis

thug?

Matthew Hammer

(To the reporter) Don't you guys do your homework these days? (with a slight smirk)

Jamey Minnis

you call me a thug, you pig-dog?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Cut out that crazy moon language! Don't you guys speak German yet?

The Flaming One

Dina slips away unnoticed in the confusion.

Jamey Minnis

the porter gets in the face of the reporter.

Matthew Hammer

(keeps walking)

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Well, I was wondering if you could comment on the rumor that the book you found is in fact the lost Book of Skelos?

Penny Gronbeck

<in french> please, I must insist that you leave the grounds.

Jamey Minnis

oui, monsieur.

Matthew Hammer

And what, pray tell is the lost Book of Skelos?

Jamey Minnis

please be polite to the nun, if you are incapable of doing so with my mistress.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Follows Sara... The accent is American... New York... or maybe New Jersey.

Penny Gronbeck

<french> we do not need more of your american disturbance, please.

Matthew Hammer

(thanks a lot guide-boy) :)

The Flaming One

One of the camera crew trips over a overturned turnip, but continues.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

'Scuse me, sister... Miss Brin, I've heard some interesting things that I might have to print if I don't get a comment...

Jamey Minnis

blocks the reporter...

Jamey Minnis

non, monsieur.

Matthew Hammer

(continuing to walk) and what would those be?

Penny Gronbeck

<french, to the reporter> thank you.

Penny Gronbeck

<now leave.>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Dodges the porter... "Well, as I said, I've got tons of info on what the book MIGHT be... what is it?"

Penny Gronbeck

<in french> it is the Jean-Paul Sartre cook-book.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Is it Skelos? Or the Ponape Scriptures? Or Dzyan?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

De Vermiis?

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Dagon?

The Flaming One

One of the other reporters shouts, "And what about the rumor of the corpse of the original Hunch Back of Notre Dame!"

Matthew Hammer

(chuckling at the cookbook crack) It seems to be monastic records, I wouldn't bet on the supernatural angles ...

Jamey Minnis

scurries to catch up with the reporter.

Jamey Minnis

I'm sorry, monsieur, but you are not wanted here. please leave.

Matthew Hammer

Really, I must be going (finishes pushing through the crowd, leaving it to the guide to run interference)

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Monastic records, huh? I doubt that, but I'll humor you... what kind of monstic records? <slips away from the porter like an eel. he seems used to this>

Penny Gronbeck

<french> records of bad encounters with nosy journalists.

Jamey Minnis

the porter pauses to consider the situation.

Matthew Hammer

(over her shoulder) There's nothing more I can say at the moment.

Penny Gronbeck

<french> Have you been to church recently?

Matthew Hammer

gm: where does the Doctor seem to be set up?

The Flaming One

Sara slips into the encampment, escaping the news hounds.

Jamey Minnis

Monsieur, I belive I saw elvis in the back of the crowd. perhaps you should interview him?

Penny Gronbeck

<french> when was your last confession? (she scrutinizes the reporter, obviously a sinner.)

Justin Robinson-Prickett

<Keeps following> Cute, Frenchy... I saw your dignity back there with him.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Why don't you go look for it?

Penny Gronbeck

<french> perhaps you would like some literature on the church?

Jamey Minnis

at least I get paid to do something besides make up stories!

The Flaming One

The Doctor is currently discussing with one of his graduate students over a map of the excavation. He looks askance at the reporter. "Who the hell is this? This is private property! Get out!"

Jamey Minnis

ignorant american pig-dog.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Get thee to a nunnery, sis!

Jamey Minnis

he is some reporter who will not take no for an answer.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Okay, I'll go... but not for long!

Jamey Minnis

<rolls up his sleeves>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The people have a right to know!

Jamey Minnis

I'm warning you american - leave this place!

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The reporter glances at the Frenchman...

Penny Gronbeck

<french> sometimes I wish we were a martial order, like some of the shinto...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Bring it!

Justin Robinson-Prickett

He runs

Jamey Minnis

chases the american...

Jamey Minnis

So, american, you can pay for pictures of the pages of this book?

Matthew Hammer

Sara looks around for Dina ...

The Flaming One

Kittemer turns to Sara. "And what do you want, Dr. Brin?"

Matthew Hammer

Well, I met a woman named Dina who said she was here for the autopsy.

Matthew Hammer

I was bringing her to see you, but she seems to have disappeared

The Flaming One

Kittemer: "Hmm. Has she now. What did she want, hmm?"

Matthew Hammer

(shrugging her shoulders) She was asking about supplies for the autopsy. You haven't met her yet, have you?

The Flaming One

Kittemer: "We talked briefly on the train. Supplies, eh? Well, we have an account for that. I can make the arrangements."

Matthew Hammer

Oh well, strange woman.

In any case, I wanted to talk to you myself anyway, if you have a moment that is ...

The Flaming One

Kittemer makes a remark to his student, and then walks over. "I have a moment. What do you want to talk about?"

Matthew Hammer

I was wondering if you have gotten an age date for the body yet.

The Flaming One

Kittemer: "Well, we haven't examined the body too closely, as that is the job for the autopsy, but initial results on the linen give a date sometime near the late 15th century. We have sent a sample to the lab for a better result."

The Flaming One

Kittemer turns to you. "Any success on the translation?"

Matthew Hammer

Hmmm, interesting. Examining the book I would expect it's quite a bit older than that. I wonder why such a book would be buried with him.

Matthew Hammer

Translation?

Matthew Hammer

No, nothing yet.

Matthew Hammer

It seems to be in some sort of code, and the facilities here leave something to be desired

The Flaming One

Kittemer: "Well. Thats unfortunate. Maybe you can hire an expert in the particular lanague of the time, perhaps? Anyway, back to work, unless you have something else?"

Matthew Hammer

No, seeing as Dina has flown the coop.

The Flaming One

As you turn to leave, Dina hurries in, out of breath.

Matthew Hammer

(I'm going to head back to the monastery, is there another entrance, one perhaps not so mobbed)

Matthew Hammer

never mind

Dina O'Shire

aye! sorry 'bout that! lost me watch back there...

Matthew Hammer

"Dina"

Matthew Hammer

Ahh, well I found Dr. Kittemer, would you like to ask him about the autopsy?

Dina O'Shire

'ello again miss brin, see ye found dr. kittemer- 'ere i thought ye'd get all lost, booky types

Dina O'Shire

oh aye- i'll be a needin' some supplies- chemicals and such, to preserve the body, makin' sure i don' be harmin it cuttin in and all...

Matthew Hammer

(expression moving towards annoyance)

Dina O'Shire

and 'bout that book, ms brin- be wanting to see it too, mayhap it 'as some answers bout our deader

Matthew Hammer

I don't suspect it will have much to say about the corpse.

The Flaming One

Kittemer raises his eyebrow at this remark.

Dina O'Shire

an' why not? ye found it wit' 'im, no?

Matthew Hammer

I don't believe the book is contemporary with the "deader".

Dina O'Shire

in some cultures they be a'burying life 'istories wit' their deaders, an' i wanna know why ours is so wee

Dina O'Shire

aye? na' contempory? why not?

Matthew Hammer

<Sigh> When _are_ you going to be performing the autopsy?

Dina O'Shire

<raises voice ever so slightly>soon 'as i be gettin' wha i be needin'!

The Flaming One

Kittemer: I'm sure one of the students can help you. or Ms. Brin's porter.

Matthew Hammer

Well, then I'm sure Dr. Kittemer can help you,

Dina O'Shire

<gm note: sorry- phone calll- hang on a bit>

Matthew Hammer

I'm going to go back to work. If you'll excuse me.

The Flaming One

Kittemer talks to a student to help Dina, and then returns to his work as well.

Jamey Minnis

the porter comes slips quietly into the back of the room...

Dina O'Shire

<gm note: teddy's back- sorry- fucking work>

Matthew Hammer

(tj, like I said earlier, Sara's trying to slip around back or something, aviod the reporters)

Dina O'Shire

<dina goes to the place the body is being held, avoiding reporters as well>

Dina O'Shire

ooc: wow mat, we were thinking the same thing!

The Flaming One

Check and check.

Jamey Minnis

the porter runs interference as needed if reporters slip in...

Matthew Hammer

ooc: ah-mazin'

The Flaming One

Sara: When you return, your friend, the American, lets you know that Dina stopped by while you were out. Said she lost a watch, but he noticed that th door was slightly ajar when he came back.

The Flaming One

Dina: You approach the freezer. Its pretty small for a body. When you open it up, you step back in revulsion. This...thing...is about as tall as child, but with all the adult-size bones compressed and distorted into this shape. Its...disquieting.

Matthew Hammer

Hmmmm, I check around for anything disturbed

The Flaming One

Sara: Nothing as far as you can tell. Everything appears to be in place.

Jamey Minnis

the porter leans in to take a look at the body...

Dina O'Shire

<dina begins to prepare for the autopsy- white gloves, mask, recorder, tools, etc.- you've seen it on x-files a million times!>

Jamey Minnis

yeah, you just want to do a scully impression, Teddy...

The Flaming One

Ah, life is good.. ;)

Dina O'Shire

<dina does look a bit like scully>

Penny Gronbeck

mmm, women who do autopsies... uh, that's ooc.

The Flaming One

Well, Dina. You are not a fully qualified M.D., last time I checked. Going to "fake" it?

Dina O'Shire

yup- gonna fake as best she can-

The Flaming One

Well, I doubt the porter (if he sticks around) knows anything. Anything in particular you want to do?

Jamey Minnis

The porter does in fact stick around.

Jamey Minnis

... to watch the hot chick with the scalpels...

Dina O'Shire

<dina takes multiple photographs of the body>

Dina O'Shire

<then she flips on her recorder and sets it down>

Jamey Minnis

I'm not real clear - is the book in here as well?

The Flaming One

Dina begins to work. As she does, she accidently cuts herself. You hear her mutter under her breath; it must be acurse.

The Flaming One

Nope. That is with Sara.

Dina O'Shire

'ouch! damn it!' <she holds herself with the table- bloody hand on the corpse>

The Flaming One

Dina: Dina concentrates on the connection of the dead flesh and her blood. This creature is dead. Very dead. You cannot really gauge how long (no Time); but you can tell that this creatures natural form was not this. Something had twisted it. As you feel the pattern, it sickens you. You stagger and almost fall.

The Flaming One

[private]Matt: Going to do anything? Or getting too tired?

Dina O'Shire

<she throws her hand to her head> aye! this smells!

Matthew Hammer

[private to The Flaming One] Oh absolutely, just getting crowded on the screen. You want privately or outloud?

The Flaming One

[private]Outloud

Dina O'Shire

<tj: can you go over details of the body dina would notice- what does it look like? perception:3>

The Flaming One

The body is about the size of child. There is not much flesh left, but what remains does not look remostly like human skin. The creature, if it was found this way, is in a state of what would be called "repose." Someone burried this...thing..reverently.

Matthew Hammer

<Sara is going to start looking for evidence of magickal wards on the book. making correlation between the code and Enochian and the like>

Jamey Minnis

The porter is standing vaguely near sara, watching her and Dana work...

The Flaming One

Jamey: Can't be done. Two very different locations.

Dina O'Shire

<dina taps her head> hmmmm... <she's thinking about the particular position, occult:2 - could it be garou? garou lore:1 - signs of death? investigation:2>

The Flaming One

Sara: You study it for some time. The language is very old, and not very familiar. However, you can feel that the text is not the only thing changed. It feels like the pages themselves, or perhaps the inks, have been affected. Perhaps the ward it upon them. Its sounds like an old trick. It would take some time to undo, but it can be done.

Jamey Minnis

ah, well, since I asked if the book was in here as well and no one said otherwise, I presumed they were the same place.

The Flaming One

I did say there were in different places. Must have missed it. :(

Jamey Minnis

ah, so, you did.

Jamey Minnis

really, sleep deprivation does nothing to my powers of observation...

Dina O'Shire

<after this, she will begin to make a incision near the thorax, cutting down to the abdomen, dex:4 med:3 (she is an RN), letting her still bloody scalpel guide the way>

Jamey Minnis

The porter hang out with Dina...

The Flaming One

Dina: This is not a creature you are familiar with. If it is related to the wolves, it must be something they would fight, not bury. This creature looks like a deformed caricature of a person.

Jamey Minnis

helps her if she asks for things to be handed to her, that kind of thing...

The Flaming One

You open up the body. Desicated, but deformed organs. They seem again like this once was human... strange.

Dina O'Shire

<she thinks>must be a baddun' <outloud> 'making primary incision...' etc.

The Flaming One

Unless you are doing anything else specific, you finish the "autopsy."

Matthew Hammer

<Sara is going to start unweaving it>

Dina O'Shire

<begins to remove organs as best as possible, heart, lungs, etc..>

Dina O'Shire

<autopsy over!>

Matthew Hammer

[private to The Flaming One] I do however need to be done by midnight. I'm disturbing people

Penny Gronbeck

since it's TJ's game, heavy on the 'something'.

The Flaming One

Sara: You begin the tedious work of unworking the text. You have to concetrate, reworking each word. It takes hours.

The Flaming One

Penny: Ha!

Matthew Hammer

yup

Dina O'Shire

heh

Dina O'Shire

<shivers with fear>

The Flaming One

Dina: As you work, the day geets cooler. You shiver some. YOu finally remove what remains. Everything was so densly packed, that they almost melded together. You are very uncomfortable.

The Flaming One

[private]I'll wrap up your section soon. Must do a little Damon & Ivy...

Dina O'Shire

<she will place the organs in bioperm and go complain to kittemer that she needs more chemicals!>

The Flaming One

Sara: You finally undo the work. The words are there, but you are too tired to read them now. Perhaps tommorow.

Dina O'Shire

<locking up the body & it's parts tightly first of course! there may be thieves about- oh my!>

Jamey Minnis

The porter goes to check on sara to make sure that she is all right...

Matthew Hammer

Um, is there anyplace to secrue the book in my room (against nosy snoopers)

The Flaming One

Unfortunately, not. Just the room itself.

Dina O'Shire

<dina's ears get red for no particular reason>

Jamey Minnis

madamoiselle, is there anything that I can do for you?

The Flaming One

Sara is pouring over the book when you arrive.

Matthew Hammer

Yes, actually. I think I'd like a snack before I head off to bed.

Jamey Minnis

is there anything in particular you would like?

The Flaming One

So, tired from eyestrain, or distrurbed beyond believe, South France heads off to bed.

Matthew Hammer

no, whatever's convienent.

Matthew Hammer

snore.

The Flaming One

Meanwhile, in San Fransico.

Dina O'Shire

sleepy sleepy

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Yay!

Dina O'Shire

<tj: one question- date is current date, yes?>

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I mean... I'm soooo depressed.

The Flaming One

Dina: Yes, for you.

The Flaming One

Damon: You farther did not speak to you the week it took to arrange everything. You didn't mind. THe main problem was convincing Ivy's Mom to let her go.

The Flaming One

Eventually, she acquiesed, but she was not very happy about it.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I try to be reassuring. I fail.

Penny Gronbeck

Ivy's been trying to placate her.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I end up just being scary.

The Flaming One

As a going away gift, your Uncle Leto sent you a small, silver headed cane. Its just what you wanted.

Penny Gronbeck

Ivy points out all the stuff her sister used to do at her age.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Good. Make me look all dapper. I walk with it, to get the hang of it.

The Flaming One

You sleep fretfully the night before the trip. It call to Maine is getting stronger.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I'm not one to ignore the call.

Penny Gronbeck

can we try to contact Casssandra? did she leave us with a phone number or anything?

The Flaming One

Finally, the day arrives. You are escorted to SFO by your father's limo. Ivy has to take the bus.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Well, there's the number of the theatre... "Hey, got a ghost on screen?"

The Flaming One

You do not have her number. You do not know here she is, except somewhere "in Maine."

Penny Gronbeck

maine's not that big...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I can find it. There's a patten somewhere.

Penny Gronbeck

Do I see the dead guy again?

Dina O'Shire

[private]can you believe this- second night and i'm already breaking into a pc's room!

The Flaming One

Nope.

Matthew Hammer

[private to Dina O'Shire] Yeah, I can believe it (you bitca) :)

The Flaming One

You find your seat in first class. The stewards look a little strangely at Ivy, but then go back to perky, insenstive smiles. The plane takes off.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

They best not look at her too funny.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Damon turns to Ivy, his face serious.

Penny Gronbeck

hey, I'm good-looking...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"I see dead people."

Matthew Hammer

[private to Dina O'Shire] <I've been waiting for that>

Penny Gronbeck

Ivy smiles. "I see white people."

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Damon frowns. "It IS first class."

Dina O'Shire

[private]heh- sorry 'bout that, but the opportunity was just too good to turn down... and re: dead people- heh! yup, i guess i shoulda seen that one too!

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"You could make them all black."

Penny Gronbeck

"I was joking..."

Penny Gronbeck

"that'd be fun."

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"It would certainly be just desserts." Damon settles back in his chair.

Penny Gronbeck

Ivy is looking around. She's never flown before.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Something wrong?"

Penny Gronbeck

"no, I've just never been on a plane."

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Never?"

Penny Gronbeck

"nope."

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Hmm... I guess air travel is easier when your father has a private jet."

The Flaming One

The flight is long, but comfortable. After several hours, you land in Portland, near the coast.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Want the window seat, then?"

Penny Gronbeck

"sure!"

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Portland... Damon glowers.

Penny Gronbeck

"hey, did you read the comics I loaned you?"

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Yes. I liked the X-Men."

Penny Gronbeck

"cool... which ones? I like Wolverine."

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Magneto. He has the right idea."

Penny Gronbeck

Ivy looks at you funny.

Penny Gronbeck

she shrugs. "Figures."

The Flaming One

As you debark, the crowd seems to pass around you, ignoring you completely. There is no one waiting for you when you arrive.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Mutants are persecuted. It makes sense to defend your own against those who fear and hate them. He sank a sub to defend mutantkind." Damon takes Ivy's hand and squeezes it.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"I'd do no less for you."

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Shall we find a cab?"

Penny Gronbeck

Ivy smiles at Damon. "okay."

Penny Gronbeck

"he's kind of mean about it, though."

The Flaming One

Your father has made arrangements for you to stay.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"The world is mean..."

The Flaming One

After a few moments, a cab wanders by. He looks at the two of you. "You goin' somewhere?"

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Yes. Take us tp [location of father's accomodations]"

The Flaming One

The place is near his "alma mater," and will be your jail for the next three months before school starts. Or at least that is what he things.

The Flaming One

*thinks*

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Fool.

Penny Gronbeck

"but does that justify being mean, too?"

The Flaming One

[Unfortunately, we must make a brief pause....]

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"Yes, to a point. There are too many things out there that will taint you irrevocably if you trifle with them, but to a point, the ends do justify the means."

The Flaming One

Its almost 10, and I know some of you need to venture forth.

Penny Gronbeck

"to a point, yeah, but to the extent that Magneto is, I dunno."

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Nooooo.!

Penny Gronbeck

I'm fine - still unemployed.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

"He does what he feels is necessary."

The Flaming One

I can continue on, but some may leave.... and I need to know who...

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I dunno if I have work tomorrow.

Justin Robinson-Prickett

I don't really care, cuz if I do it's not till noon.

Jamey Minnis

I'm good for a couple hours - I have tomorrow off...

Dina O'Shire

<teddy's cool to just hang around 'til whenever- told the boss to go away until tomorrow

Justin Robinson-Prickett

The Flaming One

Matthew Hammer

Jamey Minnis

Justin Robinson-Prickett

There are fireworks at Dodger Stadium... brb!

Justin Robinson-Prickett

Jamey Minnis

The Flaming One

Even Death must die.
